Anitque Mall Waterford, Ontario

I plan to use these in an apron or a quilt. The set of 3 for 5$

Vintage Apron

My friend Jane and I had so much fun at an antique mall in Waterford, Ontario. We shopped till we dropped, then we had a picnic by the water. It was a wonderful day. I could not resist this apron, it was so pretty and old fashion, I had to add it to my collection. All total, I spent a whopping 20$ for a great day. It doesn't take much to make me happy.

I also had time to embroider this undershirt. It will be a baby gift for ???? I thought it was a good idea to embroider somthing on the back so that when the baby is being carried, you can still see that she is Daddys Girl.
Some Flea Market Finds. There is a HUGE flea market in Keady, not far from Port Elgin. It has everything, I could shop there all day . I got all the hankies for 10$, the sewing trims for 3.00$ and the old cards 5.00$ I also bought some cheap sunglasses( i am going to sit on them or lose them anyway) and a watch. We had a great day.

I am back from a holiday in sunny northern Canada. A few days of flea markets, good food and drink, and fun in the sun! Port Elgin was GREAT, the water was warm, and weather was perfect.

For a while I really had fun making this type of apron. They were so enjoyable to sew, first I printed a transfer of a character on t-shirt transfer paper, then I ironed it onto white cotton. the fun part was sewing littles dresses on them and stuffing out there boobs. then I sewed them into an apron. I made so many, that I don't think I will ever make another one.

A few quilts that I made to give away as gifts. The greenish baby quilt is made from children's hankies.

Lost Kitty Found Kitty

I have had a kitty hanging around my place for a week or two. I wondered were she lived, till I saw her wanted poster. She belonged to an old women who was so upset she was making herself sick with worry. I was so happy to help her find kitty, who was living in an old car in the field behind my neighbors house. The old woman was so sweet, and thankful, it is something that I will never forget.

Vintage Buttons

I needed a way to use and display my vintage Buttons.

I enjoy embroidery, so I thought this would be a good way to display them. Now I just need to put them in frames, and hang them on the wall.

baking bread

My daughter bought a cookbook on baking bread, no needing required. You make a batch of dough, it lasts in the fridge for up to two weeks, increasing with flavor everyday. This is not a sourdough. I have tried many of the recipes, and have had amazing results. It seems too good to be true, but it really works! This is the greatest and easiest bread cookbook in the world Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day.

baby clothes

This is a reprint of a vintage pattern, I thought maybe I would sew up a few outfits and store them away till a girt is needed. I enjoyed making this and the embroidery was fun too. I will definitely make more. I would love to make them out of organic cotton, but I could not find any around here, so I guess that I will need to order some from Ebay. I cant wait to have a grandchild to sew for.

I found this old pattern at a thrift store, and thought it would be a fun project. While shopping at Walmart I found this pink suede fabric for 1.99 a meter. A bargain wright. Wrong, it was horrible to sew, I had to encase all the seams in tissue paper just so that the fabric would slide would go through the machine. UGGG . The results look great, so it was worth the effort. It wont fit me, but maybe my hubby would get a kick out of it if I made one in my size, and put on a cowboy hat. Don't worry I will not post any picks of that!!
Ontario strawberries are ready, YEA, time to make jam. Tonight I am making scones, so that we can eat some jam., Oh ,and add a big blob of whipped cream to that, to top it all off. I would post a pick but your drooling might damage your keyboard.

Freezer Paper Stencils

I had fun using freezer paper, and fabric paint. I just wanted to try it out and see how it works, and I think that I got a little carried away.
It was easy and fun, I cut stencils out of freezer paper, ironed it onto fabric and painted it with fabric paint. Then peel off the paper. So fun and easy. I made all of these into gift bags and shopping bags. The ideas are limitless, T-shirts, jeans, purses.............

I am please with the way it turned out.

This is a bag that I just finished making, I used fabric that was a gift from Jesse. That fabric is WOW!! I am going to order more, some for my Mom too. I was going to add bead trim, but thought it looked fine without it.

Last week was such a drag, life with no sewing machine sucks. I was like a stripper with no pole. I didn't know what to do with myself. If I can't sew, that just leaves cooking and cleaning. Yuck.
Life is SEW good!!!!!! ( now that I have a new machine)

I found these at the thrift store, too cute to pass up. There is nothing that I love more than digging through old stuff at a junk store. I think that I will make a couple of the smock aprons as gifts . I love the one with the artist pallet on it. I have so many projects in mind and too much work outside to be able to get to them. Oh well they will wait.( the work outside I mean).

An old family recipe for Gnocchi, with a picture of my Grandmothers Restaurant back in the 50s.

I found this border paper at the thrift store, aprons on the line, how perfect. I just read that in Ontario areas with bans on clothes lines, will soon be obsolete . Thats a step in the right direction!

Just a little something cute for me to wear in the kitchen. I don't know how cute it will be with spaghetti sauce spilled down the front. I had this fabric hanging around, and the eyelet on the bottom is reclaimed from a bag of junk from the thrift store.
